Found the song in a file from 2007. I am not sure if this is a home recording or a studio recording or even if it is 1 or 2 tracks. I used Audacity to beef up the sound and add ever so slight effects, mainly to make it sound a little more full. Originally I do remember being inspired by a Jeff Lynn album and kind of trying to write in his style. I also remember making a simple but unintentional chord progression change at the beginning of the song. Now all these years later I happened upon it and noted that the recording is pretty clean as recordings go.
I guess that there is a dark side to everything and everyone and we often lie to ourselves when we only focus on the light. The light is essential for survival and grappling with the darkness, that is intractable from our nature, is also essential for our survival. The story of pop music has a very dark side. Incredible suffering and loss for the m word.
Under-noticed, under appreciated, over looked and definitely glorified as if there was nothing but sunshine and cheer. It’s so not like that. A good example is the difficulty experienced by the leader of the quintessential Sunshine Pop Band of the 60’s; Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys; The Charles Manson connection, the loss and heaviness that many of you may know about. I have a great deal of respect for Brian Wilson. Both for his early sonic ventures and for his recent concerts and interviews. He has been forthright, gentle and sincere.
I think that understanding and as I said, grappling with the dark side of the story allows us to really show genuine and true appreciation for the uplifting elements of music and pop music specifically. Otherwise we are simply shallow listeners with no true appreciation for the sound that envelopes our ears and vibrates through our body. That sure is fine, however, I would like to sum up some of Pop Music’s darkest moments in hopes that by illuminating the sacrifices, we can really know how valuable a “simple” song that motivates and inspires truly is.
More to come…
Best book ever. Reading, or scouring it again. Music production is just great challenging fun. I almost think I became a songwriter so I would have music to produce. Recently did some minor editing on my laptop for a video called The Gift at http://www.youtube.com/racarmuseone . Finally my phone has become a music listening device… a good one! Music and music production should be a prerequisite for all politicians and world leaders. It couldn’t hurt… things are pretty bad. I greatly respect people who have devoted their life to music which, even in it’s most bombastic, egotistical form is still a giving endeavor. 🙂 Just some random thoughts for the evening… 🙂

SOME THINGS REMAIN THE SAME
Just as I created this blog a real life situation changed my course. My beautiful and amazing daughter had an emergency surgery and is now in the delicate stages of recovery. My priorities have already changed even more just in the last few days. Honor, truth and faith mean more than they every have. I am a different person than I was when I wrote my first blog here just days ago.
I can tell that the prayers from everyone have made a huge difference. My prayers, my life and my intention in this life is changed.
Yesterday I picked up my daughters guitar and strummed some chords and the lyrics that came were:
Lessons in Love
Lessons from God
Lessons from my Baby Girl
Because she rules my World
Learning to understand my Dreams
Learning to understand what they mean
Something like that. This life is complex and wild. I am learning to listen to my heart, body, mind and soul. Thank you for your prayers as my sweet angel recovers. Thank you for sending her Love & Strength to persevere.
A Very Happy Easter to All. My name is Dave Alyassin. I am beginning a music blog because I have devoted many years of my life to creating and recording music. I am currently guitarless and have not recorded in a while. So lately I have been searching for old scratch tracks in my archive. I have also been making music videos w/ Power Point. http://www.youtube.com/racecarmuse and many songs of mine can be downloaded for free at http://www.reverbnation.com/racecar
Will be posting music thoughts, news, ideas and also some videos and songs. This will hopefully become my personal musical playground to just converse, discuss, and write about my musical experiences.
Thank you for taking the time to read and follow.
